What inspired you to start your own business?
I love kids, food and business and this was a great way to combine all of my passions.
What was the best compliment you have ever received about your business or your business efforts?
A mom of one of our budding chefs walked into our new kitchen last week (the only kitchen in Manhattan built and designed just for budding chefs) and said that it was “serenity found”. Every morning when she bring her son for our cooking camp, she loves to walk and admire all of the unique design and creative elements in our kitchen. It’s been so wonderful to hear all of the great feedback on our kitchen after months and planning and work went into making it a reality!
What is the best lesson you could give a young women who wants to start her own business?
You must love business! You’ll likely be doing the “front line” work much less than you expect. With any start-up, you must be ready to be an accountant, lawyer, manager, cleaning crew, tech guru and much more. You can always hire the experts but you have to be prepared to pay them.
What was the most exciting aspect of starting your own business?
I love learning! Every day, I tackle a new problem and find a solution. It’s exciting, overwhelming and rewarding all at the same time.
What did your parents or friends say when you told them you wanted to start your own business/your business idea?
They loved the idea and thought it was a great way to combine my interests and past experiences. I definitely couldn’t have done it without all of their support and encouragement.
